Philippe Martin 2025 prize for the best Ph. D study in economics. Apply !

The prize, created in 2024 by the Conseil d’analyse économique  and its partners, INSEE and Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale, in tribute to Philippe Martin, rewards the best Ph. D study in economics each year.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the Philippe Martin Prize, this work must make a clear contribution to the development or evaluation of public policies. For the 2025 price, the Ph. D study must have been completed between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025.

The price of 14,000 euros is awarded by a jury made up of CAE members. It will be delivered in December 2025 during the annual CEPR symposium. The winners will have the opportunity to propose a draft paper presenting the main contributions of the Ph.D, which will be published on the CAE website as a Focus.

How to participate?

The application files must be submitted before September 15, 2025 by the thesis director or the laboratory director of the establishments in which students were registered at the time of the defense of their thesis. The same thesis director or laboratory director can have several applications.

The application file must include attachments, in PDF format:

• A summary of the thesis (10 pages maximum) centered on the original results likely to be published;

• A chapter of the thesis that corresponds to the job Market Paper (the thesis can be written in French or in English);

• A candidate's CV.

The 2025 price calendar

- June 2025: advertising of the competition with grandes écoles and universities issuing diplomas in economics, and on social networks

- September 15, 2025: deadline for submitting applications

- mid-September-mid-November 2025: examination of the files received by the members of the jury - - mid-November 2025: meeting of the jury in plenary to establish the prize list

- December 2025: award ceremony
